Richard Evans Schultes



Em 1941, Richard Evans Schultes deixou Harvard University e desapareceu dentro da Amazônia Colombiana. Doze anos depois, voltou tendo ido a lugares nunca antes alcançados, mapeando rios e vivendo entre muitas tribos indígenas enquanto coletava mais de trinta mil espécimes botânicas, incluindo muitas plantas medicinais e espécimes ainda não conhecidas pela ciência. Shultes foi a maior autoridade em plantas tóxicas, medicinais e alucinógenas do seu tempo.
Shultes também era fotógrafo e seu trabalho tinha um contexto etnográfico e histórico. Pessoas, plantas, lugares e a floresta foram seus temas. Ao lado de Edward C. Curtis e Pierre Verger, Richard Evans Schultes é considerado um fotógrafo perfeitamente alinhado com seu espírito e seu trabalho mostra bem isso.




Schultes foi também escritor. Publicou nove livros sobre etnobotânica, entre eles Plant of Gods e Vine of the Souls e foi reconhecido com muitos prêmios pelo seu trabalho.

Garden of Eden - Snu Voogelbreinder


Garden of Eden, by Snu Voogelbreinder explores the vast world of psychoactive plants, animals and other organisms, and their uses in shamanism, spiritual exploration and healing.
